Any way you put it, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) might mutter those exact words sometime in 2011, as it shoots past Nokia (NYSE: NOK) as leader in global smartphone shipments.
Data from Digitimes suggests the two OEM giants switching places by the end of 2011, with Apple's iPhone shipments expected to grow 82 percent to 86.4 million units, while Nokia might drop 25.6 percent to 74.4 million units shipped in the year.
Digitimes estimates overall smartphone shipments will increase 60 percent to 462 million units worldwide for 2011. The top-five vendors - Apple, Nokia, Samsung, Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) and HTC - will make up about 72 percent of total units shipped. Nokia is the only OEM in the top five to see a decline in shipments. Even RIM will see 12.8 percent growth.
