Apple (AAPL) is One Step Closer to Fending Off Another Patent Suit

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) may win another one.

According to reports, the International Trade Commission (ITC) issued a preliminary decision in favor of Apple in a complaint filed by HTC. The ITC said it found "no violation" by Apple of four patents held by HTC.

The ITC will make a final decision in February on the patent infringement case.

HTC initially sued Apple in early September, after acquiring several patents from Google (Nasdaq: GOOG). Reports have HTC obtaining about nine patents from Google on September 1st before filing the suit.

The news is almost par for the course. Last week Apple won temporary injunction against Samsung in Australia, followed by another victory later in the week against Samsung in the Netherlands.

So, HTC shouldn't feel bad. It's still seeing a rapid surge in earnings growth.

Apple is 0.5 percent lower on the session.
