Apple (AAPL) Tops JD Power Quality List for Sixth Straight Year
Apple... The name evokes thoughts of well-crafted, technical wonderment, capable of iEntertaining and iWorking.
And, following a recent consumer survey of customer satisfaction with smartphones, J.D. Power agrees.
For the sixth time, Apple came in atop the list. Apple got an 838 score and "performs well in all factors, particularly in ease of operation and features."
Next on the list was HTC, at 801.
For traditional handsets, Samsung came in the highest at 718. LG, Sanyo and Sony Ericsson follow Samsung in the traditional handset rankings, with scores of 717, 716, and 709, respectively.
Smartphone and traditional mobile phones ranked higher in satisfaction. Some key elements influencing the increase include, "high-quality display screens, faster processing speeds, longer battery life and touch screen capabilities,"
Some bad news for Research in Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM), though the company appears to be moving away from this sort of thing, is: "Technology advancements also impact the experience of mobile devices in a number of areas. For example, touch screen-only smartphones generate considerably higher satisfaction with ease of operation (817 points) than either QWERTY-only based devices or those that have both a touch screen and QWERTY functions (785 and 782 points, respectively)."
Apple is 0.5 percent higher Thursday, while RIM is 1.8 percent lower.
