Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is said to have pushed its first-ever automated security update to Mac computers which will help defend against bugs that some security researchers believe could help hackers gain remote access to the machines.
The update works to fix the network time protocol (NTP) on OS X, one spokesperson told Reuters.
Bugs were made public in security bulletins issued last Friday by the Department of Homeland Security and the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute.
Previous updates pushed by Apple required user intervention, while the latest one is seamless
and doesn't even require a restart,
according to the Apple spokesperson.
