Apple (AAPL) Makes Swift OEM Market Share Gain for U.S. Smartphones; RIM Continues Decline

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is continuing to gain market share in all respects of U.S. mobile metrics, according to new data Friday.

ComScore (Nasdaq: SCOR) reported Apple gained 1.3 points to 10.2 percent in OEM mobile market share for the three months ended September 2011. Samsung retained the top spot at 25.3 percent, but was flat from the last reporting period.

LG and Motorola (NYSE: MMI) both lost 0.7 points to 20.6 percent and 13.8 percent, respectively.

For smartphone platforms, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android gained 4.6 points to 44.8 percent market share. Apple moved 0.8 points better to 27.4 percent. Declining for the month were Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM), Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Accenture's (NYSE: ACN) Symbian, by 4.6 points, 0.2 points, and 0.2 points, respectively.
