Anadarko's Headquarters Achieves LEED(R) Certification

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: APC) today announced that its headquarters building in The Woodlands, Texas was awarded LEED(R) green building certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

"This is an important achievement by the Anadarko team as we constantly work toward greater energy efficiency, practice conservation and continue to act as good stewards of the environment," Anadarko Chairman and CEO Jim Hackett said. "The LEED certification demonstrates Anadarko's commitment to enhancing the environmental performance of our state-of-the-art headquarters building. Our facilities teams have done an excellent job of investing in upgrades and systems improvements that have resulted in lower operating costs, greater energy savings, reduced CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions, waste reductions, improved water conservation and a healthy work environment for our employees."

Anadarko's 30-story headquarters building, which was completed in 2002, also received the 2008 and 2009 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Energy Star Award in recognition of its savings on energy consumption. The company has worked collaboratively with various vendors to upgrade features such as the air filtration, the building automation system, and lighting infrastructure and controls. In addition, the team improved the facility's recycling programs and implemented green-cleaning and water-usage control programs.

LEED(R), or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally recognized green building certification system. Certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building meets the highest green building and performance measures. The Anadarko headquarters building is the first office complex in The Woodlands, Texas to achieve LEED(R) Certification.
