AT&T (T) Could Be Early FY12 Winner with LTE Device Deal

AT&T (NYSE: T) might be the big winner coming next spring, should rumors pan out as expected.

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) is slated to launch its new Windows Phone system in 2012, which many know. The new "Tango" platform will also support LTE connectivity for faster browsing and download speeds. However, curiously enough, the first wave of LTE-compatible Windows Phones will only be released on AT&T's network.

Three LTE-based Wndows Phones -- Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) ACE, HTC's Radiant, and Samsung's Mendel -- will all make a debut at the Las Vegas CES show next month. All three of the devices are due out before the middle of 2012, with one source expecting a debut in March 2012.

So what about Verizon (NYSE: VZ) or Sprint (NYSE: S)? Okay, or T-Mobile, too. But its unlikely T-Mobile has made an effort to land the new offerings. T-Mobile will have exclusivity to Nokia's Lumia 710 starting in January, and that device won't show up at Verizon unit April 2012.

Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and Microsoft are all higher on Thursday's session.
