ARGUS Maintains 'Buy' Rating on General Electric (GE), Positive on Strong Olympic Revenues

September 4, 2008 2:07 PM EDT

ARGUS maintains a 'Buy' rating on General Electric (NYSE: GE). Price Target $40.

ARGUS analyst says, "The company recently released its monthly update, highlighting several new products and contract wins. NBCU's Beijing Olympic coverage generated more than $1 billion in advertising revenues and reached a record of 214 million viewers. GE also leveraged its relationship with the Olympics by winning 400 infrastructure projects in and around Beijing that should generate $700 million in revenues...We remain concerned about the near-term impact of weakness in the U.S. economy and turmoil in the financial markets. Nevertheless, our outlook for GE over the next several
years remains positive, as we expect the company to continue to benefit from its presence in the global infrastructure market. We also expect strong global demand and improved productivity to drive earnings growth going forward."

General Electric Company (GE) is a diversified technology, media and financial services company.
