WTI Crude Moves Below $50/Barrel; Brent Could Reach Similar Mark This Week (USO) (OIL)
WTI crude is setting another multi-year record Tuesday.
The commodity fell as much as 3.1 percent to $48.47 per barrel, remaining at the lowest levels seen since April 2009. Brent dropped as much as 3.5 percent to $51.25 on today's trading session.
With OPEC resisting production cuts, Russia at modern-day production records, and demand largely waning as the U.S. continues to pump from shale, most market analysts see 2015 as another challenging year. Analysts also speculate that Brent crude could move below $50 per barrel before the week is over.
