Windows Phone, Android Steal Share from iOS in Several Key Markets (MSFT) (AAPL)

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) smartphone market share in several key regions is shrinking and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phone gain ground.

Kantar Worldpanel ComTech said Apple's share in the U.S. fell 9.9 points to 43.1 percent for the three-months ended November 2013. Share in China fell 1.5 points to 17.0 percent, 3.8 points in Germany to 17.3 percent, and 5.5 points in Great Britain to 30.6 percent over the same period.

Kantar noted that Windows Phone has posted its highest ever sales share of 9.2 percent across the five major European markets* and is now within one percentage point of iOS in Germany ... Windows Phone has hit double digit sales share figures in France and Great Britain with 10.8 percent and 12 percent respectively – the first time it has recorded double digits in two major markets. Windows Phone was also said to have 4.7 percent of the U.S. market, up 2.1 points over the prior year.

BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) was flat in China, down 0.7 points in the U.S., down 1.3 points in Germany, down 4.1 points in Great Britain, and down 2.2 points in France.

Android was still the top European mobile platform with a 70.1 percent share. The two biggest gainers for Android in November 2013 were Italy (11.6 points to 67.9 percent share) and the U.S. (8.0 points to 50.3 percent share).
