According to the latest data from Gartner, smartphone sales rose 46.5 percent in Q213, versus a 21 percent drop in feature phone sales. News indicates that smartphone sales have now exceeded those of feature phones for the first time.
Total smartphone sales accounted for 51.8 percent of all mobile phone sales, data show.
Samsung retained the number 1 spot in the quarter, with total smartphone market share of 31.7 percent, from 29.7 percent in the same period last year.
Apple smartphone sales rose 10.2 percent to 32 million units.
Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phone overtook BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) for the number 3 spot.
