November 13, 2014 10:16 AM EST

Pandora (NYSE: P) is active in early trading Thursday, potentially on reports that free music streaming might be nearing an end.

The WSJ said late Wednesday that major record labels are looking for services like Spotify and Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) Beats Music to stem fre trial periods, while placing more advertisements on free services that are offered, and get more credit card information from the consumers at the start.

Labels include names like Vivendi SA ’s Universal Music Group, Sony Corp. ’s (NYSE: SNE) Sony Music Entertainment, and Access Industries’ Warner Music Group.

News comes after Taylor Swift pulled her "1989" album off of Spotify following a disagreement; Swift's label wanted the album available only to premium Spotify subs, while Spotify wanted to make the album available to all users.

Pandora is up around 2 percent in early trading.
