Goldman Sachs (GS) was Top M&A Advisor in Canada for 2014
Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) narrowly beat out peer JPMorgan (NYSE: JPM) as top M&A advisor in Canada for 2014.
Bloomberg said that there were about $229 billion worth of transactions through December 29th, which was the highest annual tally since 2007. It was also a 45 percent increase over 2013.
Goldman Advise on $61.6 billion worth of deals, while JPMorgan was on $61.3 billion worth. Royal Bank of Canada (NYSE: RY) slipped to third after being at the top for three consecutive years.
Notably, about 77 percent of M&A deals were cross-border transactions, which included Burger King's $13.2 billion move to acquire Tim Horton's and Repsol's $13 billion deal for Talisman Energy.
