Facebook (FB) Isn't Porting 'Home' to iOS, Windows Phone (AAPL) (MSFT)

April 16, 2013 9:20 AM EDT
Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) was reported late Monday to be in talks to bring Facebook Home over to Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iOS and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phone. However, those assumptions may have been a little premature.

TheNextWeb said Tuesday, citing people familiar with the info, that Facebook is not in discussions to expand its Facebook Home empire beyond Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android. Facebook said it retains a good working relationship with both Apple and Microsoft, but nothing surrounding porting Home is on the burner.

Bloomberg reported Monday that Facebook product director Adam Mosseri said the company showed Apple and Microsoft its Home product and conversations with the two were "ongoing."

Let's just say, Apple would never allow Facebook to takeover the home screen on its iOS platform given the tight controls it keeps everything under. Doing so would be a herculean achievement for Facebook. Given that Android is an open platform, Google doesn't really have too much say in the matter.

Facebook is higher in early trading.
