Despite the industry moving to larger displays, Nokia (NYSE: NOK), Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), and BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) might not unveil smartphones with 5-inch or above screen sizes until the end of the year or the first-half of 2014.
Digitimes cites people familiar with the information on the news.
Meanwhile, rivals like Samsung, Huawei, ZTE, LG, Sony, and HTC have all brought a 5-inch display-equipped smartphone to market.
An upcoming Nokia Lumia device running Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phont 8 general distribution release with a larger display will be released by the end of 2013. BlackBerry's upcoming A10 model should have a larger display and launch later this year.
Sources said that chances are slim for Apple to release an iPhone with a larger display either by the end of this year or the middle of 2014.
