With eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) recently being subject of a hack and moving to have users change their passwords ASAP, what are some of the most and least vulnerable Internet/e-commerce companies out there right now following the recent heartbleed scare?
Topping the list at Dashlane was Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) with a rating of +100. Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Live/Hotmail got a +85, while the Microsoft Store was at +75. UPS (NYSE: UPS) also achieved a rating of +75. Notably, retailer Target (NYSE: TGT) came in sixth at +70...better than GoDaddy at +65.
On the other end, IAC/InterActiveCorp.'s (Nasdaq: IACI) Match.com was the worst with -70, Hulu had -55, overstock.com (Nasdaq: OSTK) also had -55, and Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN), Orbitz (NYSE: OWW), and Groupon (Nasdaq: GRPN) all tied with -45.
Dashlane said it used 22 criteria to evaluate the sites. Positive weight was added when the criterion added security and negative when it took security away. Aggregated, anonymous password strength statistics from randon Dashlane accounts were also used.
