Despite a recent slump in share price (or maybe to its benefit?), Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is still the number one most-talked about stock on Twitter.
According to Bloomberg data for May, about 69,170 posts were made using the $AAPL tag (the dollar sign in front of a ticker is the traditional way to identify a stock ticker on Twitter). The number is down from 106,226 in April, but still good enough for first place.
Coming in second was Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) with 46,534 posts, from 6,787 post the prior month.
Third was BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) at 28,445 posts, just about flat from April.
Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) was fourth at 25,452 posts and Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) was fifth at 21,058 posts.
So, Apple still is the Twitter champ. The stock is up 2.3 percent over the last month, but down 20.5 percent from the same period last year. With new devices coming out late in 2013 and into 2014, investors hope the Twitter champ becomes the uncontested mobile device champ.
