Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) CEO Tim Cook is talking about the next-generation iOS mobile operating system. He said 600 million iOS devices are active, from about 365 million at last WWDC.
Smartphone usage is 50 percent higher on the iPhone than on other devices. Mobile web share is 60 percent for iOS, versus 24 percent for Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android.
Mobile shopping traffic was higher from iPad and iPhone on Black Friday last year than on Android devices, Cook noted.
In terms of satisfaction:
* 97 percent satisfaction for iOS devices and 73 percent of those were "very satisfied."
* 53 percent for Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phone;
* 49 percent for Android; and
* 32 percent for BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY).
About 93 percent of iOS users are on iOS 6.
