Early data on Black Friday sales action suggests Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPad is going to be a red-hot holiday item again this year. Both Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) and Target (NYSE: TGT) have already named iPad as an early top seller and store checks from analysts suggest it is widespread.
Wal-Mart said the iPad mini was among yesterday's top sellers at its stores and Target said the iPad Air was among its hot items.
Driving demand at Target was a $100 store credit on iPad Air and $75 Store credit on iPad Mini. Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry said at a Target store in San Francisco there were 400 people lined up. Randomly speaking to 45 people in line showed that 80% were in line to buy an iPad Air or iPad Mini. Chowdhry included images from the store (see below).
