Android (GOOG) Adds to Global Mobile Market Share in Sept. as iOS (AAPL) Slips

Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android operating system appeared to grab a little more mobile/tablet market share in September.

According to StatCounter, Android held about 62.5 percent of the global tablet and mobile device market. That's up from 61.2 percent the prior month and compares with 49.7 percent recorded in the same period last year.

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iOS had 23.9 percent last month, from 24.8 percent the prior year and 33.8 percent in September 2014.

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows had market share of about 1.9 percent, which has been just about flat over the past 12 months.
