Amazon.com (AMZN) Receives First Primetime Emmy Award for 'Transparent'

Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) won its first Primetime Emmy award on Sunday for its Amazon Studios division.

According to reports, Amazon Studios won an Emmy for best directing for a comedy series, which was given to Jill Soloway for her work on Transparent. Jeffrey Tambor also won for his role as Maura Pfefferman on Transparent.

Transparent also took home three awards from the Creative Arts Emmys on Sept. 15th.

Transparent received 11 nominations and Amazon received 12 in total.

Receipt of such awards bolsters the quality of content on streaming services such as Amazon Video and Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX), which could lead to increased memberships.

Shares of Amazon are up 1.6 percent.
