UBS on U.S. Information Services: Q2 Earnings Comparison of MSCI, MCO & VRSK
Analyst, Jennifer Huang, compares the second quarter estimates of MSCI Inc (Nasdaq: MSCI), Moody's Corp (NYSE: MCO), and Verisk Analytics (Nasdaq: VRSK). At this point, Huang has all three below consensus.
For MSCI: challenging asset-based fee comps, but reflected in valuation: Huang sees Q2 drop in asset-based fees and margins. She also expects cautious commentary from management about the outlook (including sales pipeline). Overall though, she thinks the headwinds are mostly priced into shares.
For MCO: lower debt issuance mostly factored in, focus on expense mgmt: Huang cuts Q2 EPS to $0.64, but feels the company can maintain FY guidance as long as debt issuance remains stable.
For VRSK: stable revenue growth, but expense headwinds could surprise: Huang's Q2 EPS is a $0.01 below consensus, seeing some stabilizing, but thinks valuation (23x) could be at risk if organic growth numbers aren't good enough to please investors.
