Sterne Agee maintains a 'Neutral' on Dell (NASDAQ: DELL).
Analyst, Shaw Wu, said, "We anticipate a meet or beat amid low expectations where consensus ($0.45 and $14.7B) is looking for sizable Y/Y declines in both revenue and EPS. For the October quarter, it is a similar story where expectations are low. Because of this, we believe there could be a near-term positive bias in DELL shares. However, we maintain our Neutral rating as we remain concerned with the company's long-term fundamental position...we believe guidance for the October quarter will likely be in-line or better than consensus at $14.9 billion and $0.49 in EPS."
"...we continue to believe the company is in a tough fundamental position sandwiched between lowcost players (Lenovo and Acer) and Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) encroaching more in its core PC business as Macs and mobile devices gain share."
Dell reports quarterly earnings on August 21, after the close.
