UBS Defends Kraton Performance Polymers (KRA); Cutting Estimates, but Not All News Bad

UBS maintains a 'Buy' on Kraton Performance Polymers (NYSE: KRA) price target of $30.00 (from $31.00).

Analyst, Gregg A. Goodnight, said, "KRA reported 2Q GAAP EPS of $0.38, behind the Consensus estimate of $0.79 and well below our estimate of $1.21 primarily because of a lower-than-expected contribution from a FIFO accounting impact...Kraton reported that sales of its higher-end products such as Cariflex polyisoprene rubber (up 30% YoY) and Adhesives, Coatings and Sealants (up 6% YoY) were up, improving sales mix."

UBS chops FY12 EPS estimate from $2.85 to $1.90 and FY13 from $3.55 to $3.00.
