Wachovia Comments on Mylan (MYL) After TEVA/BRL Merger

July 18, 2008 2:03 PM EDT

Wachovia thinks Teva Phama's (Nasdaq: TEVA) buyout of Barr (NYSE: BRL) could spin Mylan (NYSE: MYL) into action.

The firm said, "With TEVA springing ahead of MYL as a result of the BRL transaction, we wonder if this could prompt MYL into looking at near-term acquisition opportunities (the same can be said of Sandoz, a Novartis subsidiary). While it is certainly possible that MYL could entertain a near-term acquisition, the ongoing integration of Merck Generics could present a challenge for MYL management to execute two simultaneous integrations."
