Shares of United Therapeutics Corp. (NASDAQ: UTHR) are lower in early action Tuesday after an analyst at Deutsche Bank highlighted that Sandoz has filed an ANDA to make generic remodulin.

The firm notes that "Sandoz states it intends to market a generic version of Remodulin before the expiration of US 5,153,222, US 6,765,117, and US 7,999,007 patents in 2014, 2017, and 2029, Sandoz states thes patents are not valid/enforceable and/or will not be infringed by the commercial manufacture," of their ANDA product."

The '117 patent appears to be a product by process patent, and maybe the key patent keeping a generic off the market before 2018, the analyst notes.

Past analysis from the firm suggests that if a generic launches in 2014 the fair value of UTHR is ~$38/share and if after 2018 the fair value is ~$48/share.

The firm maintained their Hold and $53 price target on UTHR.
