Kaufman Bros. is keeping their Hold rating on Research In Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ: RIMM) as the company reports that progress is going well on QNX. The firm does note that people are remaining skeptic as the company is trying to run two operating systems (BB6 & QNX), where most people are trying to consolidate around one either the iPhone or Andriod.
The firm reports that the battery life on the PlayBook may need to be increased or re-engineered, as it only holds a charge for a few hours where the iPad will hold one for ten hours. Kaufman Bros. states that they are reiterating their estimate that sales for the PlayBook will be around 700,000 units, much lower than other estimates that range from 1-8 million units. The firm doesn't see the PlayBook taking much of the market share from its competitors considering the BlackBerry platform has only 15,000 apps compared to 300,000 for iPhone and 100,000 for Android.
