Issuing a mid-day report on Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) ahead of its Q4 results after the close today, Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster sees quarterly Mac sales in the range of 2.85-2.9 million units, slightly higher than the 2.75 million Macs the Street is currently expecting. Looking at iPods, Munster sees unit sales of 9-9.5 million, which compares to the analyst estimate of about 10 million iPods.

Munster said, "We expect a strong September quarter, December guidance below street estimates. We
believe upside to Mac and iPhone units could help Apple beat Street estimates for the September quarter. For the December quarter, we are expecting the company to guide below Street consensus, per its standard practice."

Piper sees Apple's FY09 EPS at $5.83, and FY10 EPS at $6.01. The Street is currently looking for FY09 and FY10 EPS of $5.88 and $7.08, respectively.

The firm maintains its Overweight rating and $235 price target on shares of Apple.
