Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) $499-$699 pricing of its new surface tablet could weigh on NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA), according to Nomura Securities analyst Romit Shah.

"We believe this announcement may weigh on shares of Nvidia (NVDA/Buy), which highlights Windows RT as a major growth driver for the mobile business unit (Tegra)."

At first glance the Surface looks competitive to the iPad 3, however the price point excludes the keyboard cover, "which seems like a must-have accessory for the Surface," the analyst notes. "Including the keyboard, Surface is priced at $599. That's in line with a 32 GB iPad 3."

The announcement is slightly positive for Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), the firm said.

Despite the comments the firm maintained a Buy rating and price target of $18 on NVDA.
