Following an FDA Panel's backing of Arena's (Nasdaq: ARNA) lorcaserin Thursday afternoon and the resulting 60 percent surge in the stock this morning, Leerink Swann's Steve Yoo said VIVUS's (Nasdaq: VVUS) Qnexa will still be the "obesity therapy of choice" even if lorcaserin is approved. The analyst noted not only is Qnexa more effective, it will likely be the first of the diet pills on the US market. He also pointed out patients taking lorcaserin will be required to undergo echocardiogram every six months to year.
