GARP Research maintains a 'Neutral' on Xilinx (NASDAQ: XLNX).

Analyst, Seth Dadds, said, "After slipping behind, Xilinx has reversed course and is now chipping away at Altera’s (Nasdaq: ALTR) ~60% share at the 40-nm node. But the race to penetrate the $49 billion ASIC and ASSP market isn’t over. The nascent 28-nm node represents a bigger opportunity, and it’s still too early to declare a victor based on early shipments which measured less than $10m in the March quarter. Nonetheless, both stand to benefit from a secular trend that favors programmable logic devices. Despite stronger top-line performance in recent quarters, we maintain our Neutral rating on Xilinx, and continue to favor Altera, which has better margins and generates a higher return on capital."
