Evolution Solar To Bid On A 600KW Solar Array Installation

July 16, 2008 9:00 AM EDT

GILBERT, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Evolution Solar Corp (OTC: EVSO) is in receipt of a request for bid to install a solar array for a North Eastern American municipality. This is the second request for bid in a schedule of over ten such energy projects from an Accredited Energy Services Company (ESCO).

"The Solar Array is part of a very large energy project estimated to be in excess of $20 million," stated Robert Kaapke, CEO Evolution Solar. "The 600 kilowatt inline and in-grid solar array uses 200 watt panels and is designed to return excess energy to the power grid."

Evolution Solar recently announced entering into the first in the series of bid requests, beginning with a 34kw system. This second request includes a separate and distinct 600-kilowatt solar array project.

An ESCO is an industry standard of excellence and designated by the National Association of Energy Service Companies. For more information about Accredited Energy Services Companies, please visit their web site at: http://naesco.org/.

"The United States currently generates less than 0.1% of it's electricity through solar energy," Mr. Kaapke explained. "I believe we could be as much as 10% solar by 2012."

The Energy Information Administration predicts world energy demand will grow 50% by the year 2030. First Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLR) has landed its first U.S. solar-power plant project - a 7.5-kilowatt plant to be built near Blythe, Calif., to serve Southern California Edison by October 2009.

The majority of all major photovoltaic manufacturers continue to expand production. SunPower (NASDAQ: SPWR) of California has added more than 625-megawatt capacity at its Philippines facility, while Applied Materials (NASDAQ: AMAT) has moved aggressively into the sector in the past few years. Germany's SolarWorld is aiming to reach 500-megawatt production by 2010.
