Dougherty & Co initiated coverage on Quality Systems (NASDAQ: QSII) with a Neutral rating.
Analyst Gene Mannheimer said, "This healthcare IT company serving ambulatory physicians has had a tough go of it in recent years, owing to a late-to-market and botched development effort as the market has moved away from them, while competitors have seized the day. Our checks point to the Company putting itself on the block, which we believe is at least part of the reason for the stock’s relative strength, up 10% since reporting Q2 results last month while peers have declined amid election-related uncertainty regarding the pace (if not future) of federal legislation pushing healthcare IT. We struggle with the question over who will buy this troubled asset, though acknowledge there is a prized physician base that can be mined. Should a suitor emerge, we believe the price is not likely to be a premium from current levels, hence our Neutral rating."
