Dell (DELL), H-P (HPQ) Take PC Market Share from Acer in Key Location

Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) are looking stronger Tuesday amid data from research firm Gartner which shows the two gained fourth-quarter PC market share in at least one key market.
H-P remained the top PC vendor in Western Europe last quarter, shipping 3.612 million units for an overall market share of 22.2 percent. Though the shipment number is down from 4.287 million units the prior year, market share for H-P in West Europe improved 0.1 point.
Dell saw shipments ebb from 1.899 million units to 1.718 million units, or 10.5 percent of the market, up from 9.8 percent market share last year.
The biggest loser in the quarter was Acer, which shipped 2.176 million units, nearly halved from 4.041 million last year. Market share moved from 20.8 percent to just 13.4 percent.
H-P shares are up over 1 percent on Tuesday's session while Dell shares are up about 0.7 percent.
