A 'take-private' deal for Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) is expected as soon as tomorrow and, according to analyst Shaul Eyal at Oppenheimer, Check Point Software (NASDAQ: CHKP) and Fortinet Inc. (NASDAQ: FTNT) could be near-term beneficiaries.
Eyal explains, "Back in March 2012 Dell acquired SonicWall, which competes with both CHKP and FTNT in the UTM space. We believe a near-term disruption in Dell's SonicWall
business given an integration process would mean potential displacements by CHKP and FTNT. In 2011, SonicWall was the 4th largest UTM vendor with $181.2M in revenue according to IDC."
