Brean Murray Carret & Co. maintains a 'Buy' on Achillion Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ACHN) price target of $20.00.
Analyst, Brian Skorney, said, "We believe ACHN is positioned, post EASL abstracts, with the most compelling value proposition in the Hep C space. In ACH-1625, Achillion has the asset best positioned to compete with Gilead (Nasdaq: GILD)(Buy-rated) in a race to a once-daily, pan-genotyplic, interferon-free treatment regimen: a one size fits all treatment for all Hep C patients. We believe competitive data clearly indicates that a nuc is not necessary to eliminate interferon from the treatment regimen, provided the asset filling that role is very potent and exhibits a differentiated barrier to resistance. However, we believe it is important that the backbone agent has potent antiviral activity against fit resistant strains. We believe ACH-1625 is one of only a handful of assets that offer the hope of matching this profile."
