STAAR Surgical Company (Nasdaq: STAA) 107.4% HIGHER; announced that the FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for its Epiphany Injector System for use with the Affinity Collamer Three-Piece NTIOL and the Elastimide Silicone NTIOL. Introduction of the Epiphany will usher in a new era of insertion devices for the company and pave the way for the future introduction of a preloaded injector for the U.S. market.
Capstone Turbine (Nasdaq: CPST) 19.8% HIGHER; announced that its C30 liquid fueled microturbine has been successfully integrated into a Ford S-Max people carrier in the United Kingdom.
Human Genome Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: HGSI) 18.8% HIGHER; today announced the presentation of results from a long-term Phase 2 continuation trial showing that BENLYSTA(TM) (belimumab, formerly LymphoStat-B(R)) was associated with sustained improvement in disease activity across multiple clinical measures, decreased frequency of disease flares, and was generally well tolerated through four years on treatment in combination with standard of care in patients with serologically active systemic lupus erythematosus. The results were presented today in Copenhagen at the 2009 Congress of the European League Against Rheumatism.
Chindex International, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHDX) 18.8% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.22, 12 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.10 and compared to a loss of $0.20 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $60 million, versus the consensus of $50.48 million.
Metabasis Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: MBRX) 18.2% HIGHER; announced that its four year research collaboration with Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE: MRK), focused on the discovery and development of AMP protein kinase activators, has yielded a lead candidate that Merck has selected to advance into late preclinical development. In addition, under an amended agreement, Merck has agreed to pay Metabasis a one-time fee of $6 million that satisfies all future obligations for milestones and royalty payments.
Ocean Bio-Chem, Inc. (NASDAQ: OBCI) 16.7% HIGHER; announced today that it has received a new contract with a value in excess of $2 million, for private label products. Detailed terms of the contract were not disclosed.
DayStar Technologies (Nasdaq: DSTI) 14.3% HIGHER; continuing higher following a 43.8% rise yesterday. Traders may be buying the solar stock as interest in alternative energy plays is coming back to the market.
Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: JAZZ) 13.9% HIGHER; continuing higher today following news yesterday that data from the company's first Phase III clinical trial of sodium oxybate (JZP-6) for the treatment of fibromyalgia will be presented this week during the Associated Professional Sleep Societies 2009 Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington and also during the European League Against Rheumatism Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark.

lululemon athletica Inc. (Nasdaq: LULU) 11.6% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.09, 1 cent better than estimates. Revenues came in at $81.7 million, versus the consensus of $74.23 million. Q1 same store sales fell 8%. lululemon sees Q2 EPS of $0.08-$0.09, versus the consensus of $0.11. Sees Q2 revs of $85-$90 million, versus the consensus of $83.1 million.
Del Monte Foods Company (NYSE: DLM) 11% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.35, versus the analyst estimate of $0.26 and compared to $0.20 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $1.06 billion, versus the consensus of $956.56 million. Sees FY10 EPS from continuing operations of $0.76-$0.80, which compares to the Street estimate of $0.75.
UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) 9.6% LOWER; downgraded to Undperform at Oppenheimer. The firm cut its price target from $32 to $24. Click here for more color on the downgrade.
Luby's, Inc. (NYSE: LUB) 9.3% LOWER; reports Q3 loss of $0.04, 2 cents lower than the analyst estimate of ($0.02) and compared to a gain of $0.03 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $69 million, versus the consensus of $74 million. Same store sales for the quarter came in at down 8.9%, or 9.4% on an adjusted basis.
Plexus Corp. (Nasdaq: PLXS) 9.2% HIGHER; is partnering with The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) to manufacture Coca-Cola Freestyle(TM), a new proprietary fountain dispenser that utilizes innovative technology to dispense more than 100 different branded sparkling and still beverages from a single freestanding unit.
