Kovner's Caxton Associates Boosts Stake in Stewart Enterprises (STEI) to 6.6%

In a 13G filing after the close on Stewart Enterprises (Nasdaq: STEI), Bruce Kovner's Caxton Associates disclosed a 6.6% stake (6,033,916 shares) in the company. The firm held 4,078,795 shares at the quarter ended 12/31/07. A 13G indicates a 'passive investment'.

Stewart Enterprises, Inc., through its subsidiaries, provides funeral and cemetery products and services for death care industry in the United States.

Caxton Associates, L.L.C., is a $14 billion New York-based hedge fund, founded in 1983 by Bruce Kovner. Caxton Associates' primary business is to manage client and proprietary capital through global macro hedge fund strategies as well as other alternative investment disciplines. [LJ]
