Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 1/10: EBHI, ETFC, NWA, RSTO Higher; MW, ANN, RT Lower

Eddie Bauer Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: EBHI) 36% HIGHER; today said total store comparable sales rose 4.8%. Total net merchandise sales increased 3.4% to $378 million. The company also said they recognize that current cost structure is too high and they are beginning to implement a cost reduction plan for 2008, with the goal of taking $25-30 million out of the operating cost structure of the business.

Electronics for Imaging, Inc. (Nasdaq: EFII) 33% LOWER; today issued financial guidance for its Q4 and Q108. EFI expects Q4 revenues of about $152 million, compared to the Street consensus of $163.61 million. Q4 adj-EPS are expected to be in the range of $0.22-$0.24, versus the consensus of $0.37. For the Company's Q1, it expects to report revenues in the range of $133 to $137 million, versus the consensus of $155.32 million.

Men's Wearhouse (NYSE: MW) 29.4% LOWER; is updating Q4 2007 GAAP diluted EPS estimate to be in the range of $0.16 to $ 0.18, and Fiscal Year 2007 GAAP diluted EPS to be in a range of $2.60 to $2.62. This new estimate updates prior guidance of $0.43 to $0.48 for the fourth quarter and $2.87 to $2.92 for the fiscal year.

E*TRADE Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: ETFC) 21.7% HIGHER; is seeing upside pressure from news released yesterday that highlighted the Company's proposed turnaround, including the sale of billions in mortgage-backed securities. Such a dramatic move up could also be an indication of short covering, as, in December, about 13% of E*TRADE's float was being shorted, a 7% increase from November.

IKON Office Solutions (NYSE: IKN) 21.3% LOWER; it expects to report first quarter fiscal 2008 diluted earnings per share in the range of $0.15 to $0.17. This compares to the company’s previously communicated guidance of $0.22 to $0.24 per diluted share.

Northwest Airlines Corp. (NYSE: NWA) 20% HIGHER; is feeling substantial upwards pressure due to Delta's pilots union hosting a meeting this week to consider merger possibilities for the airline. The entire airline industry is up on the news, but Northwest is feeling the highest jump, which may mean investors are speculating that it could be the top candidate for Delta's potential merger.

Illumina (Nasdaq: ILMN) 19.6% HIGHER; today announced it has reached a settlement to resolve its patent litigation with Affymetrix (Nasdaq: AFFX).

Restoration Hardware (Nasdaq: RSTO) 18.5% HIGHER; is feeling a correction after yesterday's 36% decline due to investor speculation that it would not be able to sell itself to a larger company. Sears Holdings (Nasdaq: SHLD) has been the top candidate for the specialty retailer.

AnnTaylor Stores Corporation (NYSE: ANN) 16.3% LOWER; Comparable store sales for the December 2007 period decreased 9.4%. Net sales decreased 3.8% to $263.7 million. The Company indicated that, based on year-to-date business results through the month of December and its current outlook for January, it now expects diluted earnings per share for the full year of fiscal 2007 to be in the range of $1.80 to $1.85. The Wall Street consensus is $2.08.

Ruby Tuesday (NYSE: RT) 15% LOWER; yesterday reported a Q2 loss of $0.20, in-line with the analyst estimate of ($0.20). Revenues for the quarter were $320.9 million, versus the consensus of $316.38 million. Ruby Tuesday also gave guidance for the FY08 EPS of $0.40 to $0.60, versus the consensus of $0.51.

UAL Corp. (Nasdaq: UAUA) 12.9% HIGHER; is seeing upside today as a result of Delta's announcement yesterday that it would host a meeting to discuss a possible merger with another airline.
