Paulson & Co. Raises Stake in Cheniere Energy (LNG) to 14.6%
In a 13D filing on Cheniere Energy (NYSE: LNG), John Paulson's Paulson & Co. disclosed a 14.6% stake (7,400,000 shares) in the company. At the quarter ended June 30, 2008, Paulson held a 4,700,000 share stake in Cheniere.
Paulson also indicated that his fund may talk with Cheniere's Board and/or shareholders to discuss any purposes, plans, or proposals.
Paulson's average cost appears to be around $6.34 based on a total purchase price of about $46.949 million. With shares of Cheniere currently trading around $1.70, Paulson is substantially underwater on this position.
